Uganda has transitioned from exploration hotspot to a pivotal energy producer and regional refining hub. With an estimated 6.5 billion barrels of oil—2.2 billion recoverable—Uganda is at the centre of East Africa’s energy ambitions.
The 10th anniversary edition of UIOGS in 2026 will focus on the refinery as a driver of regional industrialisation, trade and long-term value creation. Hosted by the Government of Uganda, UIOGS convenes leaders across the value chain: international operators, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, the Petroleum Authority, UNOC, EPC contractors, investors and supply chain partners.
UIOGS remains the most important platform to engage with the decision-makers shaping the refinery project and the future of East Africa’s oil and gas sector.
