"We are ready for them and we are ready for business"

Hon Eng Irene Muloni talks exclusively ahead of the 5th Uganda International Oil and Gas Summit 2019 opening next week

Hon. Eng Irene Muloni, Uganda's Minister for Energy and Mineral Development has highlighted the country's readiness for business, stressing the 'the environment for international investment is set' and welcoming 'more companies to come and join us.'

Speaking exclusively with Dan Grogan, the event director of the 5th Uganda International Oil & Gas Summit, which is opening next week, Ms Muloni stressed the government is keen to update investors and stakeholders on the progress that is happening on the movement of products, the pipeline, developments on the refinery and preparations for production – she said there is 'work that is going on in all of those areas.'

Hon. Muloni also addressed some recent rumours, she confirmed that in fact 'none of the oil companies have pulled out and are all working towards fulfilling the conditions of their licenses.' She added; 'I can assure the international companies and investors that the matter is resolved and we are still moving on with the preparations for production and for attracting new investors.'

Total will join its joint venture partners; Tullow Oil and CNOOC as gold sponsors on the programme at UIOGS 2019, together giving participants important updates on their operations in Uganda.

Participation has also recently been confirmed for delegations of many East African partner states to attend, lead by Hon. Dr Medard Matogolo Kalemani MP, Minister of Energy, Tanzania, Hon Eng. Awow Daniel Chuang, Minister of Petroleum, South Sudan and Hon. John Munyes, EGH, Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Petroleum and Mining, Kenya. The ministers will participate in an opening session alongside Irene Muloni and further members of the Ugandan parliament to deliver in depth discussions and important updates.

As part of the interview, Ms Muloni also updates on the progress of the FID decision and next steps in the 2nd licensing round progress - with a key stage of this to be a data room featured at UIOGS 2019 and further engagement with participating companies.
