Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Sentamu is the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development a position she has held effective June 8 2021. Before that, she was the Government Chief Whip, a position she was appointed to on 1 March, 2015. Prior to that, from May 2011 until 1 March 2015, she served as the State Minister for Fisheries, and prior as the State Minister for Microfinance from 16th February 2009 until May 2011.

Between 2001 to 2009, she served as the State Minister for Defence, and prior to that as the State Minister for Luweero Triangle from 1998 – 2001. In 1994 through 1995, she served as a delegate to the Constituent Assembly.

Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Sentamu holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Conflict Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Art, both from Makerere University.

She hails from Kiboga District, and was the District Woman Representative from 1996 – 2021.
