Dr Julius Byaruhanga
Dr. Byaruhanga is the Director Policy and Business Development at Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU). Previously, he serves at PSFU as a Sector Coordinator for Oil, Gas, Minerals and Professional Services. He also worked as Part-Time Lecturer of Human Rights, Humanitarian Intervention and Global Justice (Masters of Development Studies) at Uganda Christian University – Mukono, where he also previously taught civil society organizations in Uganda, public policy, international relations and political science to undergraduate students. Dr. Byaruhanga led a Continental Scoping Study on African Young Peoples’ Awareness of the AfCFTA and their perceived role as stakeholders in its implementation as a consultant with MS Training Centre for Development Corporation, Action Aid Denmark - Arusha Tanzania where he was Trainer and Consultant for the last 10 years. At the same institution, he has trained development practitioners, policy makers and leaders in public and NGO sectors in measurement of development and social change. He was also a consultant for Extractives Hub where he developed the National Content Strategy for the Uganda National Oil Company. Julius holds a PhD of in Social Sciences – Natural Resource Governance of KU Leuven, Belgium, Master of Arts in Politics: Democratic Governance and Civil Society of University of Osnabrueck, Germany and Bachelor of Public Administration and Management of Uganda Christian University. Professionally, he has done Administrative Officers Law Course of the Law Development Centre, Kampala, attended the International Anti-Corruption Summer Academy, at International Anti-Corruption Academy, Austria and done an online UN Human Resource Managers Capacity Development Program. He has over 15 years’ experience in, civil society, public policy research, national and local governance both as an academic researcher, Lecturer, consultant and civil society practitioner. With experience in: civil society mobilization and negotiation for political participation; political and human rights advocacy; qualitative and quantitative research, data collection and analysis; CSOs and civil society actors’ capacity development; programs and projects design and management; stakeholder mapping with experience working with both government institutions and civil society actors in areas of governance, accountability and human rights.
