Hon. Gen Edward Katumba-Wamala
Hon. Gen. Edward Katumba-Wamala is currently serving as Minister of Works and Transport the position he has held since December 2019 and a Member of Parliament representing the UPDF.
Previously, he served as Minister of State for Works before which he was Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces and he is a General the highest military rank in the Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF), from 2013 until 2017 before which he was the Commander Land Forces of the same force, from 2005 until 2013.
He was also the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the Uganda Police Force, from 2001 until 2005 making him the first active UPDF soldier to serve as the head of the Uganda police Force. He holds Degree in International Relations and Diplomacy of Nkumba University in Uganda. He attained a Masters degree in Strategic Leadership at US Army War College Carlise, Pennsylvania, Senior Staff College Jaji, Kaduna, Nigeria.
He is the member of the Rotary Club of Kampala –Ssese Island. He has dedicated his life to serving his country and supporting charity. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate by Nkumba University in recognition of his contributions to his community, country and humanity.
