Mr Ali Ssekatawa
Mr. Ali Ssekatawa is the Director for Legal and Corporate Affairs at the Petroleum Authority of Uganda since 2017, and has over eleven (11) years’ experience, specialising in tax, Oil and Gas law. He previously served Uganda Revenue Authority as Head Litigation portfolio and a public tax prosecutor where he won groundbreaking cases in Uganda and other International Tribunals.
Mr Ssekatawa is an advocate of the High Court of Uganda. He holds an MBA from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI), an LLM in Oil and Gas Law & Policy from the University of Dundee, and an LLB (Hons) from Makerere University. He was part of the team that negotiated the Intergovernmental Agreements (treaty), Host Government Agreement, Tariff and Transportation Agreement, and other Commercial Agreements for the EACOP. He also advised on the EACOP (Special Provisions) Act 2021.
He has advised on Uganda’s Production Sharing Agreements for the Upstream Sector, the Project Framework Agreement, and the Crude Supply Agreements for the Refinery.
He has been the country representative at the East African Revenue Authorities Technical Committee, the African Tax Administration Forum working group on exchange of information and tax treaties, the Global Forum on exchange of information, and the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting Technical Working Committee.
He is also the former Chairman of URA Sports Club and Patron of Nyamityobora FC.
