Siemens has confirmed its participation as Gold Partners and will join the programme of influential speakers confirmed for the 3rd Uganda International Oil & Gas Summit (UIOGS) hosted under the patronage of H.E. President Yoweri Museveni, 27-28 September 2017 at the Hotel Serena, Kampala.
The global technology powerhouse, that has stood for engineering excellence, innovation, quality, reliability and internationality for more than 165 years, is active in more than 200 countries, focusing on the areas of electrification, automation and digitalisation.
With significant operations active in Uganda - earlier this year, Siemens signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) at the World Economic Forum 2017 committing to work more closely with the country in the areas of power supply, industry, transportation and healthcare. In addition, Siemens committed to focus on infrastructure investments and partnerships between public and private sectors and to promote start-ups and technology companies in Africa.
As part of this commitment, in June of this year, Siemens hosted a collaborative ‘Lab of Tomorrow’ workshop at its headquarters in Munich debating how innovative solutions for developmental challenges in Uganda can be made and how reliable and efficient energy solutions can be achieved.
This thought-leading workshop featured representatives from the Ugandan government and private companies alongside industry experts. It was held on the initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and under the guidance of the German Association for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Building on the success of its 2nd edition in 2016 which saw over 350 attendees, UIOGS 2017 will again demonstrate the importance of Uganda’s exciting oil and gas industry, discussing and debating the future of exploration and production in the region. Patrice Laporte, VP, Siemens Oil and Gas will join fellow industry leaders and experts in their fields from all across the world taking their place on the summit’s 2017 programme.
His Excellency, President Yoweri K. Museveni will give the keynote and welcoming address at this year’s summit, held with the support of the Uganda National Oil Company and Petroleum Authority Uganda and with official delegations at the event being led by Hon. Irene Muloni, Minister of Energy and Minerals Development of Uganda and H.E. Gabriel Lima, Minister of Mines, Industry and Energy, Equatorial Guinea, alongside around 400 oil and gas industry leaders from throughout the world.
